Welcome Back Bloomers!
Do you love berries? If you do you will love this nutritious snack. Did you know there are studies that show berries may help reduce oxidative stress? In addition in assisting with reducing stress levels berries are loaded with antioxidants, high in fiber, and provide many more nutrients. They are among the healthiest foods on earth and some say they should be consumed daily.
Blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries provide anywhere from 2.5 to 7g of carbs of fiber. Fiber is essential for your diet. Some benefits include helping lower your chances of diabetes, heart disease, and some types of cancer. Studies have shown that a high fiber diet can help lower your cholesterol levels as well as the risk of colorectal cancer. Which is known as bowel cancer, colon cancer, and rectal cancer. Berries also help reduce inflammation. Signs of inflammation can include pain, redness, loss of function, swelling, and heat. All of which berries can help alleviate by incorporating into your diet.
According to Heathline.com “A potassium-rich diet can help lower blood pressure, and people who eat plenty of potassium have up to a 27% lower risk of heart disease.” Potassium is also important in aiding healthy kidney function and blood pressure control. Bananas, oranges, honeydew melon, and cantaloupe are just some of the fruits that are high in potassium. Did you know the recommended amount of potassium for an adult is 4,700mg a day? Consuming cooked spinach, sweet potato, and broccoli are just some of the vegetables that are high in potassium as well.
