Welcome back bloomers! It has been quite sometime since I have posted a travel post but we are back with one you do not want to miss. It is still unbelievable that we were in Greece for our honeymoon and my 30th birthday. I mean a true dream come true am I right? It first seemed like the day was so far away but it approached so quickly. This trip will have a few parts so make sure you click the subscribe button now. First off let’s start with getting to Santorini.

We flew with American Airlines as we had some flight credits from previous adventures that were disrupted. One of the many questions I get asked is how long was the flight. Well we flew into London from DFW for starters which was a 9 hour flight, then we had a connecting flight to Thira which was about 4 hours or so. Santorini has been a destination on my bucket list forever however it was not our first choice. We originally wanted Phuket, Thailand or Bali, Indonesia. However, with COVID and government protocol it was nearly impossible. At the time we started planning our honeymoon entry was prohibited from these areas and if you were able to enter there were quarantine restrictions and limited hotel access.
So we decided on our next best option was Greece. We opted to fly business class for our longest flight which was indescribable. If it is one thing you owe to yourself it is to fly business class at least once if you are able. Our experience was PHENOMENAL. Our honeymoon was also planned in combination with my 30th birthday. We flew out of DFW on my birthday, September 6th, and flying business class made it a wonderful treat that was so relaxing. The service provided was immaculate and the food was endless along with drinks. We were greeted with champagne or mimosas. So you know your girl was in heaven. When I say we were well fed, that would be an understatement. Our bellies were so full by the time we had to get on our next flight we hardly could move haha.

Once we arrived in Santorini, we had a shuttle that was arranged with our hotel to pick us up at the airport. Unfortunately, we had some difficulty locating this person however once I contacted the hotel and informed them it was quickly rectified. Our hotel Caldera Premium Villas was located in Oia on the Caldera. Being on the Caldera called for immaculate views of the Aegean Sea. One thing we really enjoyed was the buffet style breakfast that was served daily next to the pool which was very delicious. The property is “hanging” over the caldera and known for their cave style rooms. Our room of choice was the Cave Suite with Hot Tub however the hot tub did not work to our expectations and was more of a room temperature pool. The room was very spacious and had a second level separate from the hot tub area. Because of this, the air conditioning only worked on the lower level with the bedroom. So the upper level was not used much besides to sit and put on our shoes and leave the room or use the hot tub. Although they served breakfast daily, our room was so far from the area we could not enjoy breakfast on our patio. The room was on the lowest part of for the hotel so there were numerous stairs we had to walk up and down daily. We later opted to move to a smaller room on the level with the pool and the front desk was very accommodating for us. This room was wonderful and only had one floor with a hot tub as well that had doors to actually close this area off which our previous room did not. If you plan to stay in the Caldera area of Oia ensure you have some comfortable walking shoes as you will be expected to walk up and down hundreds of stairs daily. It was definitely a challenge with the sandals I brought and often I would wear my sneakers up the stairs and change into sandals when we got to our destination. Even with our athletic builds we were still out of breath by the time we would get to the top where all the shops and restaurants were. This was a perk of our hotel. There were numerous shops and restaurants close by therefore eating at the same places daily was nearly impossible.

We stayed from September 7th through September 14th. The weather was hot during the day but once 4-5pm came around there were lovely breezes that graced the island. Bringing a lightweight jacket is something I would recommend if considering traveling there during non peak season. Because the nights were colder the hot tub was as well therefore being in during the day was more suitable. The views from our rooms were absolutely stunning. The room was stocked with coffee and a mini fridge. Having our morning coffee was something we looked forward to before getting ready for our day.
We arrived around 5pm and were greeted by the front desk with welcome drinks. Once we were shown to our room it was time to settling in and enjoy the wonderful views for a while before stepping out to have dinner and explore some shops. Apsithia was the restaurant we had dinner at for our first night and the food was so lovely we had dinner a second night here. On this night we enjoy some bread and tzatziki for an appetizer. A flavor you will never forget. Our dishes of choice included the chicken fillet with penne pasta and the lamb shank. The lamb shank was our favorite as it was so flavorful. By the end of the night we were stuffed to say the least. We then attempted to get into the hot tub but as it was much cooler at night is was not comfortable as we did not have a door to close to our hot tub as we did in the second room.

The next day would be filled with a relaxing spa day at Rocabella Santorini Hotel & Spa and dinner at Nobu. The next morning we woke and headed to have breakfast provided by the hotel before heading to wander around some shops. What a beautiful place Oia is. Not only the views but the culture and products that are sold are such great quality and craftsmanship. I stopped into this shop and purchased a gold Greek key ring. The ring symbol symbolizes infinity, unity, and the eternal flow of life. I also purchased a bracelet which showcases the Matiasma that symbolizes protection. The evil eye is meant to ward off evil spirits and negative energy. After we finished doing some shopping it was time for a drink. We decided to stop by this restaurant and grab a fretting drink while we sat on the roof top. The spicy margarita I had definitely held up to its name. Now it was time to get ready for our relaxation party.

We were able to set up transfer to the spa with the front desk which was very helpful in assisting us with these services. Anedosa Spa was about 20 minutes from our hotel. The resort is located in the village of Imerovigil. As we arrived early we decided to head to the restaurant and grab a drink while we waited. The spa package we selected was called Love Affair and labeled and a honeymooners experience. Marcus and I both received massages in room contacted to each other side by side. When I say this was the MOST relaxing massage I ever had! I felt like I was floating on clouds when we were done. The massage was an 1 hour and 15 minutes priced at 115 euros. I have to give a shoutout to Iro Beloka the Front Office Manager for all her assistance in setting up our spa reservation as well as our sunset yacht cruise.
Now it was time to head back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. I set up reservations at Nobu before we arrived in Santorini. Marcus and I had never been and although there is one in Dallas we thought it would be great to experience something a little different. We set up our transfer which took about 20 minutes from our hotel. These taxis were very nice. If you call a Mercedes a taxi. It was more like luxury Uber haha. I won’t lie we were a little surprised by the size of the portions at Nobu. Almost $250 later and we still we not full lol at least Marcus was not. Needless to say the food was very flavorsome. We enjoyed the Beef Tenderloin in Anticucho sauce and the Rock Shrimp Tempura with creamy spicy sauce. The flavors were bold and robust. Melt in your mouth goodness. We finished our meal off with some Salmon and Avocado sushi that was delicious. My drinks of choice included the Sweet Rosemary Paloma and a glass of Malagouzia Gerovasileiou Estate 2021. Marcus loved the Papasito so much he had two. Of course we saved room for dessert so we ended the night by eating some gelato from Lolita’s while taking a stroll through the courtyard back to our suite.
